City Council Approves Submittal of CEBA Application for Phasient Learning Technologies

Ames, Iowa - (July 11, 2007)

The Ames City Council yesterday passed a resolution to approve submittal of an application to the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED)for CEBA funds for development assistance on behalf of Phasient Learning Technologies, LLC.

CEBA, the Community Economic Betterment Account of IDED, provides financial assistance to companies that create new quality employment opportunities and/or retain existing jobs, and make new capital investment in Iowa. The amount of funding is based, in part, on the number of jobs to be created/retained. Funds are provided in the form of loans and forgivable loans.

Phasient Learning Technologies, an Ames company founded in 2001, is a leading provider of Internet-powered training solutions that allow organizations to easily share mission critical information with employees, customers, partners, sales channels, and other key stakeholders, on demand, at the moment it is needed. Phasient's solution-based approach includes a comprehensive suite of proprietary products and related consulting services.

Phasient is seeking $100,000 from the IDED for the purpose of developing the next generation of its products and services. Phasient products and service enable companies to efficiently and effectively develop and deploy customized content, including eLearning. Additional development is needed to provide "plug-ins" to the leading LMS providers, which will become Phasient's key alliances and the key to Phasient's continued growth.

"As we improve and expand our products and services, Phasient is committed to remaining an active part of the Ames business community," says Denise Link, Vice President of Phasient. "Ames has the services and most of all the educated workforce with a strong work ethic that our business needs to grow and succeed."

The project will add 26 jobs in Ames over the next three years in addition to the 10 full and part-time employees already on staff with the company.

Phasient has been assisted by the Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC) through this process and Dan Culhane, AEDC President and CEO says the project expansion is great for the local economy. "Anytime a technology company like this commits to creating quality employment opportunities in your community you have to be very pleased," says Culhane. "Phasient and its leadership epitomize entrepreneurial spirit and the AEDC is excited with their anticipated growth here in Ames."
